Old Town Scottsdale Sees Surge With 8 New Nightlife Concepts

By AZBigMedia, azbigmedia.com | July 23, 2025

With eight new nightlife and hospitality concepts launching in rapid succession, Scottsdale’s iconic Entertainment District is undergoing what local nightlife figure Gem Ray calls “a full-blown renaissance” — and he would know. Known as The King of Scottsdale Nights and the go-to concierge for celebrities, athletes, and luxury travelers, Gem Ray has built his business around curating elevated experiences in a city where the party never sleeps.

“This isn’t just another party season — it’s a new honeymoon phase for Old Town,” said Ray. “Everyone is revamping, leveling up, and chasing a more polished, elevated crowd. We’re talking about cleaner looks, tighter dress codes, better entertainment, and stronger customer service — Old Town and The Entertainment District are entering its luxury era.

Changing Tides: A Summer Like No Other

Traditionally a slower period, the summer of 2025 has flipped expectations. Despite a noticeably quieter 4th of July weekend in terms of sales and foot traffic, the Entertainment District is experiencing a record influx of new openings, including:

• Shiv – A late-night concept with a strict dress code and upscale experience

• Maya Nightclub – Reopening with a bold new layout and renewed energy

• The Kill Club – A bar for those who prefer luxury with a side of grit, located on Stetson Drive

• F16 Lounge – Catering to both a younger crowd and longtime locals, located in the new Remi Hotel

• Sexy Roman – Italian cuisine with a sleek feel and dress code, located in the W Hotel

“Usually, you space these launches out,” Ray said. “Dropping this many new venues in the middle of summer? It changes the entire dynamic of the town — we’re watching it evolve in real time.”

While visitor spending habits have shifted, tourism remains robust, and many high-profile guests are still turning to Gem for exclusive experiences. “The weekend crowd is lighter, but Monday and Tuesday bring in a different kind of traffic — people here for business, conventions, or leisure who still want to explore Scottsdale after dark.”

The newer venues are bringing an unmistakably refined feel. According to Ray, the scene is “cleaning up” — from VIP service and ambiance to crowd behavior and aesthetics.

“Everyone’s chasing elevated experiences. You can’t just show up in flip-flops anymore — you’ve got to dress the part,” said Ray. “And that’s what makes the experience better for everyone.”

He also praised the sustained success of iconic venues and long-standing staples — Bottle Blonde, El Hefe, High-Fi, and Whiskey Row — noting they still “run strong” thanks to their brand recognition and loyal followings.

Beyond the nightlife, Gem Ray argues that Old Town’s after-hours scene plays a pivotal role in the Valley’s overall tourism economy.

“People come for the golf, the spas, the sunshine — but they stay out for the nightlife,” Ray said. “It’s one of the few entertainment districts in the country where the energy, the elegance, and the experience all collide.”

He adds that conventions, conferences, and sporting events often rely on Old Town Scottsdale nightlife to provide a “memorable night out” for attendees — something not replicable elsewhere in Arizona.

“Everyone wants Scottsdale nightlife — but no one else is Scottsdale nightlife. This is the epicenter. It’s been that way since the ‘90s, and it’s only getting stronger.”

Since 2009, Gem Ray has quietly built a nightlife empire — helping VIPs navigate the district, choose the right vibe, and gain access to the hottest reservations and tables in town.

“Everyone wants a hookup,” he laughs. “I’m not just the guy who gets you in. I’m the architect of your night — whether you want bottle service in a booming nightclub or a hidden chef’s table with after-hours access.”  – more at azbigmedia.com
