This AZ Mall Just Got Named 1 Of The Best In The US. Here’s Why Shoppers Love It
USA TODAY readers across the country have voted on the best malls in the United States and a longtime Arizona favorite made the list.
Scottsdale Fashion Square is ranked No. 6 in the 2025 USA TODAY 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards for Best Mall.
From luxury stores like Balenciaga, Cartier and Versace to classic mall favorites like American Eagle, Sephora and Dillard’s, Scottsdale Fashion Square has more than 200 stores and restaurants, plus a 14-screen Harkins movie theater. Shoppers can ride the Scottsdale Trolley from the mall to Old Town Scottsdale and the arts district.
When Did Scottsdale Fashion Square Open?
In the 1940s, Harry Lennart purchased 40 acres of land on the northwest corner of Camelback and Scottsdale roads and started making plans for a small shopping center. Five businesses — a liquor store, camera store, barbershop, grocery store and drug store — opened in 1959.

Goldwater’s Department Store opened in 1961, marking a new era for the site. The shopping center started to attract customers from across metro Phoenix. The property continued to expand over the decades.
In 2018, a luxury wing was added to the northwest side of the mall, featuring brands Cartier and Jimmy Choo, as well as a Nobu restaurant.
Renovations completed in 2023 include a redesigned arrival area with valet services, new two-story storefronts, exterior-facing retail buildings and enough space for five new restaurants. A Life Time fitness center also opened that year, and in March 2024, the boutique hotel Caesars Republic Scottsdale opened across the street.
And the mall is still growing; Scottsdale Fashion Square recently welcomed retailers Princess Polly, Swarovski, Lululemon and Blue Nile. A Michelin-starred Din Tai Fung dumpling house is set to open in 2026.
What Is Scottsdale Fashion Square Ranked?
Scottsdale Fashion Square is ranked No. 6 in the 2025 USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for Best Mall.
Voters appreciated its upscale mix of stores, including Louis Vuitton and Dolce & Gabbana, sophisticated dining at Nobu and Elephante and its proximity to the Caesars Republic hotel.
